Exploring the Best Wine and Formaticus Cheese Pairings

Since ancient times people have paired wine and cheese together. These two flavors work to enhance and compliment each other. Today I would like to explore some of the best wines to pair with both of Formaticus’s flavors: Swiss, pepper jack and cheddar.

Let’s start with our Swiss cheese. Formaticus’s Swiss can be described as having a buttery and nutty flavoring. Pinot Noir is a red wine that has fruity flavors throughout which pair well with the nutty flavoring of Swiss cheese. Add whole grain crackers to this pairing and you have a very tasty treat.

For our pepper jack, we suggest pairing it with a Moscato. Moscato is a light wine that comes in various colors such as yellow, pink and white. All of these colors bring different fresh and sweet flavors that all pair very well with the spiciness of pepper jack.

A full-bodied and dry red Cabernet Sauvignon has hints of herbs and dark fruits. When paired with the extra sharp cheddar, the red wine draws out the bold cheddar flavors of this strong cheese. Cabernet Sauvignon also works well with other intense cheeses, particularly ones that are firm and salty.
