Today in class we discussed about multiple origination stories of the indigenous people of North America and how they affect their customs in the present day. When we compared Genesis (christian origination story) and the origination stories of the indigenous people, I quickly noticed that Genesis told the people that the earth was made for humans and in the origination stories of the indigenous it says that earth was made for nature. If you apply Genesis to the Europeans, you can realize that they felt Earth was their land to conquer and rule. Then, you can also notice that Native Americans were trying to respect their land because it had significant spiritual value to them. To sum up, it is paramount that you see the origination of all religions and respect their beliefs.
It is easy to see something and make an assumption without having knowledge of that thing, but to have a valid perspective, it is vital to have background knowledge. It is unfair for someone to judge someone else because of looks and not a history. I am positive that we would not like to be stereotyped when we go out in public or speak around in class. There is major difference between seeing, and knowing.
