Lots of fans actually think that they are honoring the Indians by having a team named after them. Redskins fans think they are America’s team because the Indians were here first. This is not honoring at all because it would be like having a team named the Whiteskins with a mascot as a white person. This would be very disrespectful and whites wouldn’t want that as a name of a team. There is also Redskins fans that ended up becoming fans of different teams because they didn’t like that they wouldn’t change the name of the team. They would stop buying their season tickets to games and stop buying Redskins apparel.

I also think its crazy that the Redskins owner would give money to the poor Indian tribes just to say that he is supporting the Indians. He would also buy them clothes and give them free Redskins apparel. They would honor Indians at half time during their football games. Which I find this weird because they are trying to get rid of the name Redskins and the Indian tribes would support the team and wear their gear.

After watching the movie More Than A Word it really shows how sports mascots are offensive to Indians.
