For Immediate Release:
OVER 12-YEAR-OLDS SHOULD NOT BE TRICK-OR-TREATING
DES MOINES, IOWA – Sept. 20, 2017 – The office of Senator George St. George would like to introduce a bill banning children over the age of 12 from trick-or-treating. The Halloween tradition of Trick-or-Treating is designed for children. There is no need for anyone over the age of 12 to be walking around the streets unless they are guardians of the children. This measure is not to prohibit any rights, but protect the rights of the defenseless.
Police need to be able to identify people that are roaming the streets. If there are people roaming the streets with masks on, than significant issues may arise in terms of security. Citizens need to understand that this is a protection measure for the children of the state of Iowa. Children will be roaming the streets, which means child molesters will have easier access to commit their crimes.
Masks give criminals a way to mask their identity. Cities have seen crime spikes on Oct. 31, due to the ability to disguise one self with a mask. Trick-or-treating has been a tradition for centuries. Allowing for adults to use the children’s fun for crime should not be tolerated under any circumstances. Halloween should be for children and their families to visit close friends and relatives in their hometowns. Adding adults to the mix creates a situation that can only mean trouble for everyone involved.
Ensuring the safety of the public will always be the goal of the office of George. The Republican Party will stand by George in his present and future inquiries. George’s communication office will continue to seek innovative ways to communicate with the public.
