RESEARCH SESSION A SUCCESS FOR GREENLEE

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication devised a new way for students to gather research on companies. The Greenlee Career Fair is designed to help students gain internships to better their future careers. Greenlee’s faculty came up with a research session that would occur a couple days before the actual fair. Students would be able to attend the meeting to see what internships might suit their future needs best.

The creation of the research session met a need that Greenlee had been longing since the creation of the internship requirement. Greenlee requires that all students must complete a 400 hour internship before graduation. The student is required to find and complete the internship on their own. Completing an internship will help one find a job upon graduation. The strict internship requirement has helped Greenlee continue to stay on the top of journalism education.

The primary goal of Greenlee is to set up their students for better futures. Greenlee’s faculty wants to help students find the exact internship that student needs. A good internship can not only boost a resume, but also give vital tools necessary for future occupations. Greenlee has a great reputation for sending students out into the workforce adequately prepared. The current job placement is at 97% after graduation.

The research session helped students not only learn about employers, but also to see what a student should be looking for in terms of future employment. Lacking knowledge about what a good job looks like can severely damage a students resume. Spending time in the wrong location can hurt a students chances at future success. Using current Greenlee faculty helped show a variety of different angles to look at boosting one’s career. The research session helped students find what they want and how they should go about getting that desired internship.
