This video focuses on the Treme and Seventh Ward neighborhood. One main thing that residents of this area encounter is lack of access within spaces. Many children are walking around in their neighborhood at risk of violence and crime around them. Implementing pedestrian paths in between the green street medians will provide more opportunity for access, safety, and recreation. Other opportunities that can help improve the space include biking and lighting.
Moving forward, I will continue to address the problems and further elaborate on the solutions. The use of the word, “green space” will be changed. Local schools will also be shown and more statistical demographics will be explained.
More background information:
Treme is a Creole/African American neighborhood that was also the first main neighborhood of New Orleans. Like many places throughout the city, the neighborhood is also known for its traditional music and jazz clubs.
The Seventh Ward is the second largest ward in New Orleans after the Ninth Ward. Although it is known to be less developed compared to other parts of the city, the Seventh Ward are currently having new properties construction with more potentials of renovations in the future.
