After today’s discussion it really shocked me that the Minnesota government could tell the tribe that they were not going to put a pipe line threw their reservation, then changed their minds. It also blows my mind how two people in the government said not to go threw with the pipe line but one person said yes to go threw with it and they overruled it. This really irritates me because this pipe line ruins their water supply, their crops, and ruins their sacred land. They really should have the whole state of Minnesota behind them to stand up and say this isn’t right. The pipe line that goes threw North Dakota leaked into the tribes water supply and ruined their sacred land. This is not right and they need to make a stop and not let it happen in Minnesota. I am glad that they are making a stand and said they are going to do everything in their power to not let this happen.

We also finished a video over boarding schools, which is a real eye opener because they treated them so poorly. When thinking about boarding schools you don’t think of a cemetery being on it. But these boarding schools did, they also had infants that were berried which came from the guards sexually assaulting the young women in the schools. This is not right and should not of happened.

Zach I feel ya brother. This really sucks that we are learning about the dark truth. But it is a eye opener just like you said. I feel as if the united states really just want to get rid of them and make the united states forget about them and make them disappear into a different dimension. The facts that they have shown the people that the pipeline could potentially ruin their water, food and sacred land and they still don’t care and did not stop at anything to run that pipeline so they could profit. Sad to hear that it already burst and ruined the water already and now that will make the Native people living that much harder. It is not okay to do.

Zach I couldn’t agree more, the boarding schools have for sure took me by surprise because where I grow up boarding schools look like some colleges.. which I understand that times of course were different but it didn’t have to different as in cruelty leading to death. Thinking that if you survived the schools you would just go back home and everything would be fine but in most cases that wasn’t how it ended, since you were in the schools and went through the treatment that you did all of your culture and traditions have been forgotten. That then led to the tribe pushing you away and not treating you as the same person you were before you left which is terrible to not even be accepted by your own community.

Totally agree with you Zach. The reason I agree with you about the Minnesota pipeline is Minnesota did agree not to put the pipeline through the reservation, but ended up going back on their word because one party over ruled the other two. I mean what does this tell the Native American people about our government. Simply if we can not keep our word or promise. In my personal opinion it tells the Native Americans we can not be trusted and we are continuing to follow the path of our ancestors. We continue to say one thing, but do the exact opposite. Plus it also shows we will take what every we want without regard to the consequences of our actions. How does these actions help heal the relationship between the Natives and American people? The answer, it does not!
