In class we researched different apologies from countries that have wronged people of the past. More specifically I will focus on Canada’s apology to the Native Americans and the United States apology. First off, when we were searching for these in class Professor McClung had to help people out on how they would find the U.S. apology. For me, however, I was searching for the Canada apology and it was the first thing that popped up on Google. So already Native Americans in America would have to search for their apology from the U.S.
When we dug more deeper into these we came to the conclusion that Canada’s apology was way more sincere. They put the apology in three different Native languages so many members could actually understand it and read it! Makes a lot of sense right? On the other hand the United States was only in English and buried way back in a forty-six page federal document. This in itself shows that the United States did not to the best job in apologizing. Not only did Canada’s apology fell very sincere but it was very easy to find and it was written in three different Native languages. Once again America, you screwed up.
