Stressed About Class?

top 5 tips for reducing stress

  1. Start Early: You may think that some of these assignments won’t take very long. That’s understandable – some of the directions are short. Some of the directions look like simple checklists. However, none of the assignments can be done WELL in the few hours before class, or the night before. Give yourself plenty of time to work on everything, and you’ll have a much calmer semester.
  2. Remember Revisions: You are allowed to revise certain assignments. Put forth the effort on the first assignment, and pay attention to my feedback so that you earn back your points during the revision process.
  3. Keep Up with Your Blog: If you remember to post to your blog each week, the end of the semester will be a breeze!
  4. Phone a Friend: There are at least 18 of you in this class. Find at least one study buddy. That way, when you’re stuck, you have someone to email. This also gives you a person to bounce ideas off of, someone who might look over your work, and someone to vent to!
  5. Come Visit Me!: Just because this is last on the list DOES NOT MEAN it’s your last resort! You are always welcome to come by my office hours, or schedule an appointment. Scheduled appointments need not be in my office! I’m happy to meet in the library, at the Hub, or in the Multicultural Center if you’re more comfortable in those places.
