Hello world! My name is Jen McClung, and I am the instructor for this course. I have been teaching American Indian Studies and English (but mostly American Indian Studies) at Iowa State University since 2009. Classes I’ve taught include: Introduction to American Indian Studies, American Indian Women Writers, American Indian Art, Culture & Identity in American Indian Arts and Literature, Native People in American Culture, and Composition.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English from California State University of Long Beach and a Master’s of Fine Arts Degree from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA.
Native literature is what initially drew me to the field of teaching American Indian Studies, but I have had the good fortune of excellent mentors and colleagues who have expanded my knowledge and understanding of this field along the way. It’s quite a diverse field of study and I am constantly learning – one of the many things I love about this discipline!
