Intro to American Indian Studies

After watching the movie 100 days in class today it really shows how cruel we are to American Indians. We use their land to get oil from and they don’t get any money. Everyone else that lives around that land that weren’t Indians got some money and had good living conditions. This just isn’t fair to the Indians because they are living in the worst conditions, with no electricity, and no gas to their houses. This isn’t the way anyone should live their lives.

It’s crazy that they didn’t think that twenty seven billion dollars was fair to give them for using their land to get oil. So then they cut it down to eight billion which they ruled that to be to much money, they ended up agreeing on three billion dollars. This isn’t fair to anyone because they made hundreds of billions of dollars off their land taking the oil that’s not theirs in the first place. All of this took fifteen years to settle, so the people suffering died before they could get their money. This should not of been aloud to happen for so many years. They also should of got way more money then was settled for.

I completely agree with you. While watching the video it just made me “sick” to watch the government and industries prey upon the Native Americans. If we think of back the core fundamentals as to the creation of the United States. We are simply lost our way because the reason we created this nation was to live in a nation free of tyrannical rule and to live in a nation where everyone is treated equally. I believe we need to reflect back at the mistakes our ancestors made and work correcting those mistakes. Then look to making sure we no longer make the same mistakes. So we can really call ourselves the “United” States, rather than play pretend.
