Boarding schools for the Native people were seen as something so good but they really never understood what really went on. The pictures that they used were definitely twisted in ways that most did not notice. They would use the old type of photoshop and almost change the color of their skin to make it look like the board school changed them in ways and made them more civilized. A quote that was used kind of threw me for a twist and that was “kill the Indian and save the man” I think this is a big part of the history we are learning about. Watching that film really showed me what type of torture that they went through and had to endure even though they were the first people on all the land we call America. Still blows my mind how mistreated the native people are. These board schools are very different than the current ones we all think about. There was a great amount of benefits from these schools but where there are benefits there are usually downfalls. Yes it helped give them an opportunity to be able the live in the modern world and not their villages and tribes. But with them leaving the tribe it almost broke the bond and took them away from their culture and stopped them from fully embracing their true culture. Some came back and did not know how to speak their native language.

I agree with what you are saying Joey, what we were told happened to the indians and how when they were taken to the schools that they were taught how to be in the new world. But what was really happening was that they were taken from there family and then put into slave labor and forced to forget everything they knew about their culture. The saying “kill the Indian and save the man” has really become a big part of the history that we are learning like you said what happened to the natives is very gruesome and should not have happened.

I agree that these boarding schools were not good for the Indians because it took them away from their culture and broke the bond they had with their family. The pictures they used to show that these boarding schools were good really angered me. I also agree that these boarding schools had some good aspects as helping them live in the modern world. This camp had way more cons then it did pros. It also really angered me when they would graduate from the boarding schools and go home to their tribes and could speak the language they were brought up with.
